Admittance to Chorale will require a live audition. Auditions will be held at the BYO office, located at 111 N. 30th Street in Billings on July 14, 2012, from 9:00AM to 4:00PM. Qualified applicants with be notified of their audition time prior to July 14th.
For orchestra musicians there are a number of ways to make a digital recording of your audition:
- Use your home pc, a microphone, and audio recording software. Once the file is created, it can then be either burned to CD and snail-mailed, or if smaller than 5MB can be emailed to the appropriate address. (use Mp3 format if possible.)
- Use your cell phone, Ipod, or smartphone to record a “new sound”, and then email it to the appropriate address. (These are usually of low sound quality, but adequate for our purposes.)
- There are also many hand-held digital recorders that can interface with a pc and allow transfer of mp3 files.
- As a parent, when in doubt, ask your kids-they are sure to know how to do this themselves or have friends that can do so.
- You must submit your audition recording by July 28th to the BYOC.
If all else fails for orchestra students who need help making an audition recording, we will be offering recording services on two separate dates, July 7th and July 21st at the BYOC office, located at 111 N. 30th Street in Billings, from 9:00AM to 3:00PM.
NOTE: If you have trouble emailing the file, it may be because the file size is too big. Try recording it with a lower quality setting if possible and re-send it. MP3 format is smaller than audio file format.
