The New York Tour, 2021
During alternate years the Repertory group travels to New York City to experience a trip of a lifetime. This trip strives to accomplish several goals which include:
- See the cultural sights of NYC
- Participate in mentoring sessions with New York Philharmonic musicians and Broadway musical actors
- Attend concerts and Broadway shows in NYC
- Perform at venues such as the 92nd Street Y
The Repertory Orchestra has taken this trip 5 times in the last 10 years. We toured several famous landmarks such as the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, 9/11 Memorial Museum, One World Trade Observatory, & David Geffen Hall. Students also participated in mentoring sessions with the New York Philharmonic musicians and a workshop with actors from the play, “My Fair Lady”. They were honored by performing at the 92nd Street Y, attended “My Fair Lady”, and a concert at Carnegie Hall. All this was accomplished during 4-days for an economical price including: accommodations, airfare, and event admission tickets. We plan to continue this unforgettable trip for our BYO students.
